Blair Educational Centre

Blair Serem Academy

Iten, Kenya

Blair Serem School in Iten, Kenya, was founded by former Blair student Kelvin Serem and now serves approximately 900 students from nursery school through junior secondary school (Grades 7–9).

The school provides education, meals, uniforms, books, computer education, and student sponsorship opportunities. Boarding facilities are available for older students at the Iten campus.

Medical Clinic

Blair in Kenya operates a school clinic and is working toward expanding services into a community health center staffed by nurses and visiting doctors in collaboration with the Kenyan Department of Health.

The clinic provides basic medical care for students including malaria testing and treatment, deworming, respiratory care, treatment for infections, and general primary care. As the clinic expands, services will also be available to the surrounding community.

Child Sponsorships

Education in Kenya requires families to cover several costs including tuition, meals, transportation, uniforms, and school supplies. Many families in the communities served by Blair in Kenya cannot afford these expenses.

Through the Child Sponsorship program, donors help ensure that children have the opportunity to attend school, receive meals, and continue their education. Sponsorship helps cover tuition, meals, uniforms, books, and school supplies so children can stay in school and build a better future.

Who We Are/What we do

Blair in Kenya is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that partners with rural communities in western Kenya to provide education, healthcare, and opportunity for children and families. Through two schools, a medical clinic, clean water initiatives, and child sponsorship programs, Blair in Kenya supports more than 1,300 students each year.

Why This Work Matters

In rural western Kenya, many families face daily challenges that make it difficult for children to attend school and stay healthy. School fees, transportation, uniforms, and books can be beyond the reach of families who are working hard simply to provide food and basic necessities.

When children have access to education, healthcare, and opportunity, they gain the power to shape their own future—and the future of their communities.
